About Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling

Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling is a program that has been approved in the Saline Schools for many years. Counselors throughout the district adhere to the State of Michigan approved curriculum.

In the Elementary Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling program/curriculum we focus much of our time on classroom presentations or teaching students life skills.

Our lessons, which last from 30-45 minutes, focus on providing students with information and skills that will help them reach their potential and improve their success as a student. Skills include conflict resolution/management skills, study skills, friendship/social skills, and understanding feelings and emotions, just to name a few of the areas we may focus on.

We also provide educational support groups for such issues as divorce/families in transition, grief and loss, building friendships, and anger management. We meet with students individually, also.
As needed, we work closely with parents, teachers, the School Principal and other school staff to assist with the positive development of all students.
