Evaluation and Grading

1.) Each art project will receive points equal to a letter grade. The grade will be
determined by effort (time on task, coming to class prepared), quality of work
(design, technique, problem solving), following guidelines (written and verbal),
and craftsmanship (presentation, execution of media).

Grade scale:

A+ 100 B+ 87.0 C+ 77.0 D+ 67.0
A 93.0 B 83.0 C 73.0 D 63.0
A- 90.0 B- 80.0 C- 70.0 D- 60.0

2.) All assignments will have due dates and must be given to the teacher on that day.
Artwork becomes homework if you think that you cannot meet the due date. The student
is responsible for knowing the due date. No late work is accepted unless there is an
excused reason. Any problems must be discussed with the teacher prior to the due date.

3.) Studio projects completed in class (major projects) are worth 75% of your grade.
Homework, quizzes, tests, art critiques, sketchbook assignments and pre-studio activities
are minor projects and are worth 25% of your grade.

4.) The final grade for the semester is computed in the following manner:
40% (1st nine weeks) + 40% (2nd nine weeks) + 20% final exam.

5.) Students must earn a final grade of a "C-" or better in order to enroll
in a future art course at Saline High School.

6.) Any artwork turned in to a teacher without a name will have a lowered grade.

7.) INAPPROPRIATE SUBJECT MATTER USED IN ARTWORK WILL
RECEIVE A ZERO AND DISCIPLINARY ACTION WILL BE TAKEN.
