Trimester grade
Your grade is made up of the following:
Trimester work --------------------------- 80 %
Final Exam-------------------------------------------20 %
Make up work
You are responsible to make up any work that you missed during absences.
SHS school rules apply. You can find the daily schedule of your class
in your class folder. You need to consult it for class work and assigned
homework. The handouts
for each day are in the respective class bins. You can also consult the
class website at www.salineschools.com/users/hoopsb
Quizzes, tests and presentations are to be completed immediately upon
return from the absence. If the quiz/test/presentation is not made up
it will automatically become a 0. All quizzes, tests and presentations
will be made up before or after school, or during SRT.
Passes
At the beginning of a marking period you will receive a pass. It is worth
5 points. You can use it for a missing homework assignment, for a tardy.
Whenever you want to use it, you need to get a holepunch from your teacher.
If you decide not to use it or only partially you will get all the remaining
points for extra credit at the end of the marking period counting towards
your Quiz/Homework grade.
Extra Credit
Extra Credit is assigned mostly for academic reasons. Should there be
a cultural event in the area pertaining to German speaking
countries, you may receive Extra Credit by attending it, providing
proof that you have done so and handing in a written summary and critique.
Extra Credit for academic reasons will be offered periodically to all
students throughout the semester. Your marking period grade is a representation
of the work you have done throughout the marking period. No extra credit
will be assigned at the end to boost your grade.
C. Notebooks in German Class
On the last day of the first week you need to bring a notebook (2-3")
for 10 credit points. The notebook should be a 3-ring, loose-leaf binder
and be used only for this class.
Your notebook should have dividers for 2 reference sections:
The dividers need to be clearly labeled as follows:
1. Vocabulary
Vocabulary lists will go into this section. The vocabulary lists should
be kept for reference as long as you learn German. They will be
entitled “Vokabeln”.
2. Grammar
Grammar charts and notes on grammar need to go into this section. You
need to keep the material filed in this section as long as you learn
German. Handouts for this section will be titled “Grammatik”.
An updated list for each section will be online on your class website.
You are responsible to keep your notebook current and check the website
list at least once a week. When you are absent, you must obtain missing
papers from your class folder.
Your notebook will be graded at the end of each marking period.
