Honus & Me
By Dan Gutman
When I think of warm weather, I think of ice cream, BBQ, bike riding and BASEBALL. So...in the hopes of urging on spring, I have selected Honus & Me as our next "read aloud". If you know baseball, then you know that Honus Wagner was one of the game's best. Joe Stoshack, our main character, not only knows baseball, but he lives for it! When Joe stumbles across a T-206 Honus Wagner (the most valuable baseball card in the world) strange things begin to happen. This amazing adventure forces Joe to make some tough decisions, as he comes face-to-face with this 1909 World Series star.
The Chicago Tribune declares Honus & Me, "A captivating blend of fact and fantasy". I completely agree with the Tribune and secretly wish I would have said it first. However, I will be the first to tell you that if your child enjoys this book steer them toward Dan Gutman's other baseball books: Jackie & Me, Babe & Me, Shoeless Joe & Me
