Mrs. Dorset's Biography
I began teaching in 1994 in Laingsburg, Michigan, where I taught sixth, seventh
and eight grade Science during my first two years and fourth grade the
following
year. My fourth year of
teaching was in Airport Community Schools, focusing on
sixth grade Math. In 1998, I began teaching 6th grade here in Saline.
I love what I do and where I work.
I earned my teaching degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1994. Then
five years later I earned my masters degree from Michigan State University
(GO SPARTANS!).
I am very proud of my education. I’ve had to work very hard for it.
In the spring of 2004, I completed 30 additional college credits to continue
to
improve my teaching.
I have a big family: a husband, four sisters, one brother, a mom, a step-dad,
a dad and a step-mom. My pride and joy are my two children. Dominic is eight
years old and full of energy. He loves
to talk,
read, watch movies and talk more. My daughter, Alaina, will
be six in November and is beginning Kindergarten at Houghton this fall.
She tries
hard to keep up with her brother, and enjoys singing, dancing and riding
her bike and making us all laugh. My family is very important to me. We
spend a lot of time together
traveling, camping, playing sports or sometimes just watching movies at home.
My summer was very busy. One of the highlights was our trip to Disney World
in June. Part of our vacation was on the Disney Wonder Cruise where our
excursions took us to swim with
sting
rays
and
play
with dolphins. It was amazing! We also went to Virginia Beach in August
for some "down time" in the ocean. In my spare time, I enjoy going to the
gym, reading and hanging out with our
friends.
My
hobbies include traveling, bike riding, reading, exercising, and listening
to music.
I think this will be a great school year. I am looking forward to meeting the
students and families on our team!
