RULES
FOR CLASS
Be Respectful-Be Responsible-Build Relationships
GRADING POLICIES
Labs: (40%)
There will be several labs during the trimester. Most labs will require a formal
lab report and students will be aware of which labs require. Labs will be
graded and questions from the lab may appear on tests. It is the responsibility
of the student to keep up with their write-ups and labs.
In Class Activities
In class activities will be graded for participation and will count as lab
grades. For each chapter there will be one or more activities each worth 5-10
points.
Lab Folder:
You must keep hand written notes on any labs (this does not include activities).
The note book will be graded at the teacher's discretion (at any time)
and will count as lab grade. YOU ARE EXPECTED TO KEEP FOLDERS UP TO
DATE EVERY DAY.
Tests: (60%)
There will be 3 to 6 tests each grading period which may, or may not, be pencil-and-paper
tests. NO TEST GRADES WILL BE DROPPED.
Quizzes:
Occasionally there will be announced quizzes. Quizzes will count as test grades.
Video quizzes will be open note.
Writing Assignments:
There will be a writing assignment due week 10 of the trimester. It will be
considered as a test grade.
Folders:
Student folders (Forensic files and other videos, Class notes) will be graded
at the teacher's discretion (at any time) and will count as test grade. YOU
ARE EXPECTED TO KEEP FOLDERS UP TO DATE EVERY DAY.
Forensic File and other Videos Journal:
Approximately one to two days a week will be devoted to a video and discussion
of a certain crime of a certain criminal. You will be expected to keep a few
notes (about a page) and a journal in your lab book about each video. Questions
from the videos will appear on tests and you may use your forensic file journal
as a reference during the test.
Extra Credit:
Any extra credit in this course will be in the form of review questions
on tests. These questions will be questions that appeared on an earlier
test and the points for these questions are added to the test score on
which they appear.
DO NOT ask me to give you a few points. You get the grade you earn. I
expect you to earn a good one.
Make-up Work:
It is the student's responsibility to get make-up assignments and notes from
the teacher or from another student. All of this should be done at time respectful
of the class’s time. Quizzes may not be made up. However, the missed
grade will not count against students with excused absences. Tests will be
made up in a timely fashion during the class period. Labs must be completed
by absent students. This may involve gathering information from lab partners
and processing the lab individually.
Late Work:
Deadlines are one of the more important consequences of the real world.
In light of such, late work is not accepted.
