Elementary Media Curriculum

The mission of our library media program is to provide learners and educators wtih equitable access to information, ideas, and learning/teaching tools, and to develop expertise in locating, evaluating, and using these resources.

The elementary media learner standards encompass four main areas:

Library Skills	Literature Appreciation	Technology	Information Skills
Includes media center procedures and expectations, resource location, use of the patron catalog, and circulation procedures	Includes exposure to a variety of genres, story elements, book awards, and selected authors and illustrators	Includes identification of the various parts of a computer and specific instruction in a variety of applications	Includes the identification, location, evaluation, and use of a variety of informational resources
