Fall Events
meetings
The drama club will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays
throughout the month of September. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday,
September 18th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the drama lab (room B245). The theme
for this meeting is "Getting to Know You." Since we ran out of time last Tuesday
to get to play drama games, we will spend most of the afternoon playing games
and working on our acting skills, such as concentration, team work, imagination,
and creativity.
On Thursday, September 20th the meeting will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. This meeting will focus on preparing and giving monologues. We'll also play some more games.
All are welcome! Wear comfortable clothing and moveable shoes. Stop by the library if you need more information.
workshops
There are two workshop opportunities this fall.
First, on Sunday, September 30th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. we will conduct a workshop
with a guest presenter who has worked professionally in
theater as both an actor and director. The focus of this workshop will be on
voice and articulation. All of you should plan on attending. This
is a great opportunity to develop and hone these necessary and important skills.
So please make every effort to attend
auditions
Despite announcing at the drama meeting last
Tuesday that we would be doing a murder mystery this fall, I have changed my
mind. We will still perform a murder mystery, but it will be presented in the
spring shortly after the winter musical.
This fall we will present a series of one-act plays. One-acts, although shorter than a regular play, pose challenges that actors often do not encounter in full-length shows. Additionally, they allow many more opportunities to perform on the big stage. Anyone cast in a one-act will be expected to attend rehearsals regularly--just like a full-length show. There will be props, sets and costumes--just like a full-length show. There will be tickets, posters, and t-shirts--just like a full length show. There will be tech days and build days and even a tech week--just like a full length show. And we will perform on the main stage--just like a full length show. The only difference is that it is not a full-length show!
Auditions for the one-acts will be held the week of September 24th. More information to come. In the meantime, plan on getting to know me by attending both meetings next week as well as the workshop on the 30th.
