Sixth Grade Creative Arts

What's Happening in Sixth Grade Creative Arts?

The sixth grade creative arts classes meet each morning for forty minutes.

~The sixth grade classes began the year with a lot of review. We then began working on our class play, Strega Nona. We just finished this play, which combined singing, playing and acting, and will be moving on to other smaller music and drama activities in December.

~The sixth graders are currently working on an extended composer unit: The Magnificent Seven - The Sequel. After studying seven composers, students began working in small groups to create a short play based on the life of one composer. These plays involve music, dialogue, props, costumes and multiple scenes. We are putting together these productions day by day and hope to present them soon!
We are also having fun with many different theater games and continue to
sing quite a bit.

A Note from the Mrs. Geraldi
I think one of the strengths of Creative Arts is that the students become comfortable performing in many capacities. We work to foster an atmosphere of acceptance and support, and encourage everyone to be creative and try their best. I hope that the students will becom more comfortable in front of people as class continues, and develop a confidence in themselves and their abilities that perhaps they didn't know they had.
